ABSTRACT

The issue of analyzing the efficiency of agriculture on the basis of multi-criteria decision-making methods is very current, complex and significant. Based on that, this paper investigates the efficiency factors of agriculture enterprises in Serbia using the CODAS method. The AHP method is used to calculate the weight coefficients of the criteria. The goal and purpose of that is to process the given problems through the complex theoretical, methodological and empirical prisms in the function of improving the efficiency of agriculture in Serbia in the future by taking appropriate measures. The theoretical and practical significance of the research of the treated problem in this paper is reflected in the fact that the application of the CODAS method provides a more realistic situation in relation to the ratio analysis in order to improve the efficiency of agriculture in Serbia in the future by taking adequate measures. There are no similar studies in the literature for other countries, which makes international comparison difficult. Research using this method and including the period from 2013 to 2020 has showed that agriculture in Serbia were the most efficient in 2018. Then we have: 2020, 2019, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013. Recently, under the positive influence of numerous macro and micro factors, the efficiency of agriculture in Serbia has significantly improved. The effects of Covid-19 on the performance of agriculture in Serbia have, among other things, been mitigated to some extent with increased electronic sales of agriculture products.

ABSTRACT

Combinative distance-based assessment (CODAS) is a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method that is based on the Euclidean and Hamming distances of alternatives from the average scores of attributes. Spherical fuzzy sets, as the recent extensions of ordinary fuzzy sets, were developed based on Pythagorean and neutrosophic sets and enable decision-makers to express their membership, non-membership, and hesitancy degrees independently and in a larger domain than most other fuzzy extensions. This paper proposes a new interval-valued spherical fuzzy CODAS method and provides extra space for catching the vagueness in the nature of the problem. The feasibility and practicality of the proposed model are illustrated with an application for evaluating the reopening readiness of academic units for campus education in the era of COVID-19. Three decision-makers from a higher education institution evaluate four academic units with respect to five strategic criteria and prioritize them according to their readiness levels for the campus type of education. Sensitivity and comparative analyses, theoretical and practical contributions, limitations, and future research avenues are also presented in the study. ABSTRACT

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine which criteria should be taken into account while choosing face masks for pandemic times and to what extent their effects are. Design/methodology/approach Nine face mask alternatives were evaluated based on the assessments of their performance with respect to twelve attributes. Seven experts were asked to evaluate the mask alternatives and the influences among attributes. In gathering expert judgments, spherical fuzzy number-based linguistic terms were utilized in the study to provide a more comprehensive representation domain to them. Findings According to the results, the most important attributes are found as material type, cost and bacteria-virus protection level. The best face mask is N95, which is followed by respirators and surgical masks. Research limitations/implications The implication of the research is to evaluate face masks in terms of criteria such as physical, performance, protection and cost to decide on what basis they were selected as a personal protective equipment (PPE) based on expert assessments. This is useful in selection of the right face mask with optimum performance and provides guidance to the general public and profession specific groups for this purpose. The face mask companies might be also benefitted from the implications of the present study in their design and research and development (R&D) operations. Originality/value The preference ranking of the face mask alternatives has not been studied in detail yet in the literature. Focusing on this issue, the present study provides a comprehensive assessment of the selection criteria of face masks in the pandemic era.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research article is to develop a hybridization between the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method and the Combinative Distance-Based Assessment (CODAS) method under Pythagorean Fuzzy environment. The traditional FMEA procedure is based on the multiplication between the parameters of severity, occurrence, and detectability where everyone has equal relative importance;therefore, different combinations of these parameters can generate the same result creating uncertainty in the analysis. In this mode, the hybridization proposed in this research deal with relative importance of each parameter;in the fact to have a more suitable combination which consider the level of knowledge of the experts in the assessment. Finally, a numerical case was carried out concerning the public transportation service to validate our proposal;the results show that 31 failure modes and potential risks can be evaluated using user perceptions, a dominant with high level of knowledge about the public transportation service and an apprentice or common user, as team of experts and exploiting the subjectivity of the information in a mathematical model. Also, we compare the results with a variation of the proposed model with the multi-criteria method multi-objective optimization method by relationship analysis (MOORA);it was observed that the convergence of the failure modes depends on the nature of the mathematical model even under the same conditions at the start.
